What Truck Detailing Costs in Austin

At TRZ a pickup is priced in our largest size tier, the same as a three-row SUV: an exterior detail is $90, an interior detail $170, a full detail $260 and a ceramic coating $450. Those are flat prices, done at your house, and the only optional extras are add-ons like pet hair removal ($30) or an engine bay detail ($50).

Truck prices at a glance

The exterior price is the same for every vehicle we wash. The interior is where size shows up, which is why a truck costs more inside and the same outside.

Why a truck costs more inside

It is the cab, not the bed. A crew cab has a full rear bench, a wide floor and deep footwells, and that is a lot of fabric and rubber to shampoo, steam and dry compared with a sedan. Work trucks add mud packed into floor mats and dust worked into every seam of the dash.

Outside, the job is mostly wheels, arches and reach. Tall trucks take a little longer to do properly, but not enough to justify charging more, so we don't.

What Texas does to a truck

Caliche and limestone dust from unpaved roads and building sites settles into door jambs and the cab. Rinse it before you wipe it — dry, it scratches.

Summer bugs bake onto the grille and mirrors within a day or two, and they are much easier to remove early.

A big flat hood and roof sit in full sun, so hard-water spots from sprinklers or a hose dry fast. That is the reason we rinse with de-ionized water. More in hard water spots on cars in Austin.

Detailing a truck yourself in Texas

If you want to do it yourself, the order matters more than the products:

  1. Work early or late, never on a hot hood in midday sun.
  2. Wheels and arches first, so the mud you knock loose doesn't land on clean paint.
  3. Rinse the body thoroughly before touching it, then wash top to bottom.
  4. Dry it straight away; Central Texas tap water spots if it dries on its own.
  5. Inside, pull the floor mats and clean them outside the truck, then vacuum, then wipe the dash and console last.

Trucks we have detailed

A Ford F-250 Tremor in Uplands, Bee Cave, a work truck that had earned its dirt. A Ford F-150 interior in Shoal Creek, North Austin, where the before and after are on the results page. And a GMC Hummer EV in Cat Mountain, which is mostly wheels, arches and a great deal of reach.
