Houses sit close to the street on many blocks, and the lake-facing edge has larger lots with longer drives.

Those oaks are the reason people love Tarrytown and the main thing a car here fights against. Sap drips onto roofs and bonnets, pollen strings coat everything in spring, and birds roost overhead, so a car parked on the street picks up a layer of all three. In summer the heat bakes it onto the clear coat, where bird droppings in particular can etch the paint if they sit too long. Getting sap and droppings off safely, then sealing the paint so the next lot has less to grip, is the core of detailing here. Inside, pollen and leaf debris find their way into air vents and door pockets, so the cabin usually needs attention as well.
