Deep Eddy mixes bungalows with duplexes and apartments along Lake Austin Boulevard, so plenty of cars sit uncovered at the kerb or in open lots, and seats take a beating from pool and lake-trail days.

Deep Eddy is the small pocket west of downtown bounded by Lake Austin Boulevard on the south, MoPac on the east and Windsor Road on the north, and it takes its name from the pool at its edge. What began as a swimming hole where cold springs rose beside the Colorado River became a resort in 1902, gained its concrete pool in 1915, and was rebuilt by the WPA as a public pool in 1936. It is the oldest swimming pool in Texas. Housing mixes 1930s to 1950s bungalows and mid-century ranch houses with modern infill, plus duplexes, apartments and condos nearer the boulevard. Austin ISD serves it, through Casis Elementary, O. Henry Middle and Austin High.

With Eilers Park and the lake trail a short walk away, cars here tend to carry pool bags, wet towels and damp running gear, and moisture left in fabric seats turns musty quickly in Austin humidity. Plenty of cars also live at the kerb or in an open lot with no garage, so the paint takes full sun and whatever the street trees let fall. A detail in Deep Eddy is often an interior reset first: extraction on seats and carpet, then a proper clean of the dash and door plastics that the sun has been cooking all summer. Outside, a sealant or coating slows the oxidation that hits cars that never see a garage.
