At TRZ Shine & Detail, exterior-only is a flat $90 whatever you drive, an interior runs $150–$170, and a full inside-and-outside detail goes from $180 on a sedan up to $260 on the biggest SUVs and trucks. Why detailers won't give you a price
Most detailing websites in Austin will not publish a number. The reason is usually not dishonesty — it is that condition genuinely changes the work, and a shop that quotes $150 sight-unseen ends up arguing with a customer whose back seat has three years of dog hair in it.
The cost of that caution is that you cannot compare anyone. We publish flat prices by vehicle size and quote only the genuinely variable things — paint correction, boats and golf carts — separately and before we start.
What actually moves the price
Vehicle size is the big one, and it is not about surface area so much as seats and carpet. A three-row SUV has more fabric to shampoo and extract than a sedan, which is why it sits a tier above.
Condition is the other. A car detailed every month is a maintenance job; a car that has not been touched in three years is a restoration. Pet hair in particular is slow, manual work that no machine really solves.
Add-ons are genuinely optional, and they are flat prices too: pet hair removal $30, carpet or seat shampoo $50 each, engine bay $50, ozone odour treatment $50, headlight restoration $100. They are added to a main service, not booked on their own.
How often you detail changes the cost
A car looked after on a schedule stays a maintenance job instead of drifting into a restoration, and TRZ's plans price that in. Book a Full Detail every three months and each visit is 10% off; every two months, 15% off; every month, 20% off. There is no contract, and interior-only plans work the same way.

Is mobile detailing more expensive?
It does not have to be, and ours is not. A mobile detailer has no building to pay for, which offsets the drive time. What you are really buying is the half-day you would otherwise spend dropping a car off and collecting it.
What to check before you book anyone
Make sure two quotes are for the same thing before you compare them: the same vehicle size, both the inside and the outside (or just one), and whether add-ons and travel are included or extra.
Ask whether they carry insurance and for what. We carry $1M per occurrence, $2M aggregate and $25,000 of garage keepers coverage, and we will say so in writing.
Ask what water they use. Central Texas tap water is hard, and a hose wash that dries in the sun leaves mineral spotting that can etch clear coat over a summer. De-ionized water dries clean — more on that in protecting car paint in Austin.
Ask who is doing the work. TRZ is owner-operated — the person who books your detail is the person who details your car.

How much is a full detail in Austin?
It depends on the size of the vehicle. The TRZ Full Detail is $180 on a sedan or coupe, $220 on a two-row SUV and $260 on a three-row SUV or truck, and that published number is the price, not a starting point.
How much is an interior-only detail?
At TRZ an Interior Detail is $150 (sedan or coupe), $160 (two-row SUV) or $170 (three-row SUV or truck).
Do you charge extra to come to me?
Usually not. Austin, Westlake, Tarrytown, Barton Creek, Bee Cave, Lakeway, Rough Hollow and Spicewood are all inside the 30-minute drive that carries no travel fee. Farther out, it is $1 for each minute over those first 30, and the exact figure is given when your booking is confirmed.
Is a cheap detail worth it?
A $60 "detail" is a wash. That is fine if a wash is what you want. A real interior detail involves shampooing and extracting carpet and upholstery, steam cleaning, and conditioning leather, and it takes hours — the time is the cost.
How much is a detail on a maintenance plan?
Less per visit, and the more often you book the bigger the discount: 10% off quarterly, 15% off every two months, 20% off monthly. For a Full Detail that works out to $144–$234 a visit depending on vehicle size and schedule; interior-only plans begin at $120. There is no contract, and a member can save as much as $52 a visit.
How much does ceramic coating cost in Austin?
From $250 to $450 at TRZ, depending on vehicle size, for a 2-year CarPro CQuartz UK 3.0 coating applied in your driveway. If the paint needs correcting first, that is a separate quote once we have seen the car.
