Travis Settlement lies off Highway 71 between Bee Cave and Spicewood, above Lake Travis, reached by Travis Settlement Road, Bee Creek Road and Highlands Boulevard. The neighbourhood dates to the mid-1990s, and lots run from just over an acre to more than twenty, most between one and a half and five and a half acres. Homes are custom builds from the 1990s onward that run on private wells and septic, and many owners have added rainwater collection. Residents share a private Lake Travis waterfront park for swimming and paddling, and some lots have their own waterfront. Lake Travis ISD serves the area, starting at West Cypress Hills Elementary.
Big lots mean long drives through cedar and oak, and those trees leave pollen and dust on the car before it even reaches the highway. Gravel and dirt from the drive build up in the wheel wells and along the rocker panels. The well is the other issue. Water pulled straight from a private well usually carries dissolved minerals, and washing a car with it leaves white spots that bake on in the sun and can mark glass and clear coat. Detailing here has to account for that, along with the dust that works its way into the cabin on long, dry drives.
