Lake Austin, greenbelt trails, thirty years of oaks.
Lake Pointe was laid out around greenbelt buffers with its own park on Lake Austin, so paddleboard drip and trail mud land in the back and sap lands on the roof.
Lake Pointe lies off Bee Cave Road just east of Highway 71, with Resaca Boulevard and Napa Drive as its main ways in. It was laid out from 1995 onward around greenbelt buffers, and a few of its sections are private and gated. The HOA-owned Napa Park gives residents keyed access into the Balcones Canyonlands Preserve and down to a day dock on Lake Austin, where paddleboards and kayaks launch. Homes run from the mid-1990s to the early 2010s, mostly on quarter-acre lots with two- and three-car garages, and the neighbourhood is in Lake Travis ISD.
Thirty years in, the trees along those buffers are well grown, which means shade on the driveway and a steady fall of pollen, leaf litter and sap on anything parked beneath them. The lake and the trails add their own layer: wet life jackets and paddle bags in the boot, sand in the carpet, and dried drips on the bumper from boards carried on a roof rack. Detailing a Lake Pointe car tends to be about two ends of it — decontaminating the roof and bonnet where the canopy drops its residue, and drying out and freshening the cargo area that carries lake gear back up the hill.
