Comanche Trail winds along Lake Travis near Hippie Hollow, so cars live under a heavy tree canopy and come back from the water with mineral spots and damp, sandy floor mats.

Comanche Trail is reached by following RM 2222 west past RM 620, where it becomes Bullick Hollow Road, and turning off toward the water. It sits on the main body of Lake Travis, under a mile from Hippie Hollow Park, with Tom Hughes Park and Bob Wentz Park nearby. The streets wind through heavily wooded lots from about a sixth of an acre to three and a half acres, most under three quarters of an acre. Building went on through the 1990s and 2000s and still continues, so houses run from 1960s lake cottages to large new villas. The HOA is voluntary, which is why hardly any two homes look alike, and some have lake access while others have lake views.

Cedar and oak cover much of the neighbourhood, and cars parked beneath them collect pollen, sap and leaf litter. In winter, cedar pollen can leave a yellow-brown film across the whole car. Lakefront and lake-view homes add a second problem: spray from the water dries into mineral spots, and a day on the lake sends sandy feet and damp towels back into the car. The winding hill streets throw up dust and small gravel too. A detail here usually means clearing tree residue before it bonds, pulling sand out of the carpet, and sealing the paint so the next round of pollen rinses away.
